February Happenings

So...here is it almost in the middle of February. I had the flu last week which was not fun. It took a week to get over and I felt like I experienced almost every symptom of illness possible throughout that week.

I am so ready for warmer weather. I am counting down the weeks and days until spring break (the first week in April). I thank God that teachers get breaks!

I have been working on wreaths and refinishing a table that had belonged to Derek's great grandmother. We wanted a larger table to seat 6 and we were so fortunate that his grandmother offered us this. It needed to be refinished and I debated on whether to re-stain it or paint it. I have a lot of white accents in my house so I decided to paint it white! It has turned out so nicely. I have also recovered the seats on the chairs that came with it. I have 2 chairs left to paint and to finish the hutch that came with it. I can't wait to post pictures! I am so proud as I have never refinished anything before and this has actually turned out just as I had hoped.

Besides the everyday things we have still been working on adoption paperwork. We had our first homestudy meeting which was great. We have our second meeting at our home this upcoming week. In the midst of all of this and after much prayer we decided to work with a smaller Christian agency based in Florida. In the end, this was where we felt most comfortable and because it is smaller, the wait isn't so long! So...once we finish the rest of our paperwork in the next couple of weeks we will submit our dossier and officially be on the waiting list. It is so exciting because at that point we could receive a referral anytime!! I am sure we will have a wait, but I am trusting that this is all in God's hands!
